Staying at Gilpin Hotel

A warm welcome to Gilpin, a friendly, unpretentious, luxury hotel set in the beautiful Lake District National Park, family owned and run since 1987.

The original Georgian country house, built in the 1901 but extensively refurbished, has retained its historic charm, heavily influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement, but with modern touches of interior design.  Blending of the old and new gives a timeless balance, and every room is different, including our four dining rooms, which provokes interest, and the sense of journey as guests wander through the hotel.

The hotel is set in 20 secluded acres of woodlands, moors and glorious country gardens – onto which all bedrooms and dining rooms look out. Designed without compromise, half the rooms in the main hotel have spa baths and patio doors leading directly onto the gardens, whilst the six Garden Suites each have a private cedarwood hot tub in their own decked garden.

Relaxed and unhurried, there are no weddings, conferences or children under seven to disturb the peace, just warm smiles, fresh flowers, and friendly, unpretentious service.

If you need anything at all, please just ask.

Warmest regards,

Sarah Redmayne [House Manager]
Renato Nanni [F&B Manager]
Dan Grigg [Head Chef]
John, Christine, Barney and Zoë  [the family]
…and of course all of the Gilpin team.
