Staying at the Lake House

A warm welcome to Gilpin Lake House, which became a part of Gilpin Hotel in 2010.

The Cunliffe family have owned and managed Gilpin since 1987, supported by a management team, some of whom have been around for nearly as long. Our aim throughout has been to offer exceptional comfort in elegant surroundings, friendly yet professional service, good food and wine and a tranquil and congenial atmosphere. We hope you will find us thus!

Along a quiet country lane just a mile from the main hotel, enter through electric gates to discover a Lake District sanctuary. The Lake House is a private house converted into a six bedroom hotel in probably one of the most stunning settings in the county. The house sits on a private 4-acre lake with an island which is floodlit at night. Surrounding the lake is beautiful woodland and 100 acres of private grounds.

Within a few minutes’ walk of the house are stunning views of the Lake District and the house includes a beautiful conservatory dining room and bar, and a spa with an outdoor cedarwood hot tub, sauna and swimming pool overlooking the lake. If you fancy a walk without leaving the grounds, have a pootle around the lake and up to Cat Cragg where you can see the mountains to the north and Morecambe Bay to the south.

Just twelve Lake House guests exclusively enjoy the facilities of the house and grounds, along with a chauffeur to Gilpin Hotel to dine in the restaurant each evening.

The information here is a “short-cut” to what we do. We are of course real life people that love to chat, so please do ask us anything in person! We hope that you enjoy your stay, and enjoy the house and grounds as if they were your own.

Warmest regards,
John, Christine, Barney and Zoë  Cunliffe, and all of the Gilpin team.

The Lake House is also available for exclusive use.
Gilpin Lake House is managed entirely by Gilpin Hotel.
